An Eaton woman has been accused of threatening three potential witnesses in an upcoming trial stemming from a dog-biting incident. Heather Ann Wilson, 27, 111 N. West St., had been charged June 25 with two counts of dog-bite liability, a class C misdemeanor carrying a maximum 60-day term. Under state law, a dog owner can face that charge if they "recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally fail to take reasonable steps to restrain the dog," the dog leaves the owner's property and "bites or attacks another person resulting in unprovoked bodily injury." A 60-year-old woman was knocked to the floor when an Alsatian attacked her and clamped its teeth into her thigh as the woman walked into St George's Church on Andover Road in Newbury, Berkshire. While visiting her parents in Oswego, N.Y., last month, Regina Bailey was walking her dog, Kirbee. They had passed a few houses when a German shepherd mix got loose from a neighbor's house and attacked Bailey's dog. She screamed for help several times, but nobody came. Bailey, a Winooski resident, separated the dogs several times, but her dog, a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, was bitten four times and died from the attack. Details

In a rare case for the Cayman Islands, a woman faces criminal charges after her dog bit a man on the leg. The woman was charged with failing to ensure her dog was on a lead and also charged with allowing a ferocious dog to be at large. Zeus, the German Shepherd that bit a Verizon repairman in March, will be allowed to go back to his owners. Sarasota County judge Phyllis Gallen ruled that the dog will be returned to his owners, Gilbert and Ana Otero of Nokomis, although Zeus will now be classified as a dangerous dog. The search continues today in and around Gladstone for Allan Lundberg, 67 who was last seen there Tuesday afternoon when his German shepherd reportedly bit a woman. An Edgewater woman is suing Anne Arundel County police for more than $3 million after a county officer shot and killed her pit bull. Police say it was the third time the dog had bitten someone. - Details

A poodle out for a morning walk was attacked and killed by two pit bulls on Saturday in Irvine. The attack occurred as a caretaker was walking the poodle at a small neighborhood park in the West Irvine area. Two off-leash pit bulls appeared in the park and charged the poodle. - Details

Bear is a golden retriever-shepherd who attacked a bicyclist. Dee Dee, a pit bull mix, killed a cat. Cody, a Labrador mix, bit the neighbor. Their mug shots, misdeeds and home addresses went online this month at the Virginia Dangerous Dog Registry, a new Web page modeled after the state's sex offender registry. It lets residents locate dogs in their county that have attacked a person or an animal, and that a judge has decided could cause injury again. - Details

Bettendorf officers were forced to kill the dog after it attacked Phillip Tunnicliff yesterday afternoon. April 24: A 59-year-old, attempting to serve legal papers in St. Paul, is attacked and severely injured by 2 pit bulls.
June 8: An 11-year-old girl riding a small motor scooter with a child on the back is attacked and severely mauled by a pit bull in St. Paul.
June 9: A 5-year-old girl is bitten and knocked to the ground by a pit bull in St. Paul.

The German shepherd that attacked a mail carrier earlier this month was declared a dangerous animal during a Thursday hearing, but the animal's life will be spared. Kevin Overstreet, the city's animal control director, decided the dog should not be euthanized but mandated that the owners do more to keep the community safe from the dog. It was one of two dog attack cases that Overstreet heard on Thursday and one of three cases within the last month. - Details

A man who was in the hospital for a dog bite ended up being arrested for DUI on his way home. Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Rodney Cathey said he and fellow Deputy Tillman Steele talked to Thomas Earl Hill, 47, as he was being treated for a dog bite. Hill told Cathey he and his neighbor were fighting their dogs when he was bitten. Cathey asked Hill if he knew dog fighting was illegal and Hill said he wasn’t aware of that, but his neighbor had come over and challenged his dog and Hill couldn’t turn the challenge down. - Details

An 8-year-old Lorain boy is in serious condition at a Cleveland hospital after his arm was mauled by a pit bull Wednesday afternoon, Lorain’s animal control officer and emergency officials said. As it turns out, the animal showed no signs of aggression after the attack and had never bitten anyone before Wednesday. It was unfortunate Wednesday’s incident would likely solidify stereotypes on the pit bull breed, which aren’t responsible for most of the dog bite incidents in Lorain. A small poodle named Spike was mauled to death by one of two large dogs that appeared out of nowhere, Mountain View police said. Eighty-one-year-old Tina Koza was walking Spike home the morning of June 29 when the large dogs suddenly came upon them near the intersection of Grant Road and Preston Drive. One of the dogs snatched six-pound Spike into its mouth and broke the poodle's ribs, said Walter Koza, Tina Koza's husband. Spike was a toy poodle, a smaller breed of poodles. Woman Hospitalized After Dog Attack in East Lubbock - We're told the woman was walking home Tuesday night around 10:00 p.m. She saw the loose dogs and started to run, when she crossed the road, that's when she was suddenly attacked. Witnesses say they saw the women, and heard the dogs barking. The woman started to run and that's when they attacked her, biting her in the leg. Witnesses believe the dogs were pit bull mixes and neighbors in the area say this isn't the first time these dogs have caused trouble. - Details

The couple, Linda and James Wallace, were seriously injured Tuesday night when their dog attacked them. They were trying to break up a fight between two of their dogs. On Tuesday, police on Tuesday shot and killed a pit bull while arresting three burglary suspects. The three suspects (ages 18, 17 and 15) attempted to hide in an apartment complex, but when surrendering were followed by their brown pit pull, who charged the K-9 dog twice despite an attempt by the officer to separate the dogs. On the third attempt, the pit bull was shot by officers near the base of the skull, killing it. - Details
